Birds in the garden are joy to see. A little extra effort will help them to survive and attract the aves to our neighbourhood. The birds like silence and prefer some plants more than others. We can attract blackbirds, tits, tree sparrows and many others. The advantage of such neighborhood may be mutual. By providing a shelter and nourishment we can expect the birds to repay their gratitude with beautiful songs and maintaining some smaller cleaning jobs. Our winged friends seek out the eggs and larvaes of insects in the soil and on the bark of the trees. They protect our garden from the invasion of pests.
The birdsneed places to nest and eat.. A thick hedge or old tree is a good place to make a nest for certain species of the birds. Other species require special nesting boxes. Those boxes should primarily be placed in a safe place. You should also choose them according to the size of certain species of birds,. The best solution is to use boxes of two or three universal sizes.
Some of the birds which are visiting our gardens eat seeds of weeds thus it might be a good idea to save some space for them.. However, if your garden has no place for a little unkempt piece let’s plant a fruit and plants which are attractive to the winged friends.
For example climbing plants will not only adorn the walls, but they will also become a breeding place, and their fruits can feed the birds. It is good to use climbers that can attach to walls or other flat surface i.e.: English ivy, Japanese and Boston Ivy (wild grapes), climbing hydrangea, honeysuckle a blackbird nesting place, and Greenfinch wren.
Thorny shrubs such as barberry or blackthorn as well as dog rose are not only a great place to hide from predators but also provide fruits. Deciduous trees such as apple, hawthorn, mountain ash also provide bird food.
To help birds during the winter install a feeder. Supply it with seeds and fresh, unsalted bacon. You will then experience the visits from the birds which are not just living in your area but also those who move tothe colder countries over the summer period. One of the birds like that is waxwing.
